Charlie’s Chocolate Factory makes its UK debut
I joined the screaming masses in Leicester Square on last night to see the stars arrive at the British premiere of Johnny Depp’s new film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Johnny himself looked a bit more together in a lilac suit than in the mismatched combo he wore to the LA showing last week - although the least said about his hat the better (you usually live in France, yes, we get it Johnny).
He certainly looked better than Christopher Lee - ok, we realise that Johnny has 40 years on him but Christopher looked like he had stumbled into the premiere on the way to a local lawn bowls club.

The film’s director Tim Burton looked his usual scruffy self but his wife Helena Bonham Carter looked very pretty - and their colour coordination was sweet.

Of the young cast, the boys looked smart-casual, like they were off to Grandma’s, and the girls looked just delightful in pretty party dresses.
Other guests included Tara Palmer-Tomkinson who looked skinny and orange, Mackenzie Crook supporting a matching beard as Depp, Lady Isabella Hervey, Jayne Middlemiss looking pretty and coy, and Alex Best brought along a group of clones for company.

Oh dear.
