Review of 2006: Our favourites stories and hopes for 2007

So 2006 is finally drawing to a close.

It’s been a great year for us at Fametastic: we’ve had lots of fun developing (and re-developing) the site and watching it grow - and we’d like to thank each and every one of you for helping our idea come to life!

Heather’s favourite stories
I’ve really loved “life is a soap opera” stories of this year, with all their twists and turns - like the start of Charlie Sheen and Denise Richardsdivorce proceedings - with Denise hooking up with Richie Sambora etc. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock have been a fun whirlwind too. Anna Nicole Smith’s story has been less fun, given the death of her son, but equally gripping - and I think that one will be with us for a while yet since there is an ongoing paternity battle.

Similarly, the party girls have been fun to watch too - the adventures of Lindsay Lohan (particularly her romance with Harry Morton) and Britney Spears especially. I hope they’re having fun, but not dangerous, career/life-damaging fun.

Lucy’s favourite stories
I was so glad when the photographs of Suri Cruise were finally printed and all the speculation (well, most of it) finally died down. I’m not completely mad about their coupling (if the various stories are to be believed, Tom seems a little controlling for my liking - they don’t seem to be on equal footing in the marriage) but now that they’re married, hopefully things will settle down a bit.

Aside from that, I’ve also been pleased by how many celebrities are using their high profile status to raise awareness of specific causes. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are obvious examples of course but other people are doing it too: George Clooney speaking about Darfur, Scarlett Johansson on the need for better sex education and George again, with Julia Roberts, on green issues. Similarly, I’m glad that so many people are starting to speak out against the unhealthy size zero skinniness trend and it would be nice to see a move away from the skeletal look next year.

Heather Mills reportedly draws up £200million list of demands

Heather Mills has reportedly drawn up a £200million list of demands as part of the financial settlement of her divorce from Paul McCartney.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Heather has told her legal team that she wants four of their homes - in London, Los Angeles, New York and the lodge on Peasmarsh estate in Sussex - with new cars and maintenance staff at each home. She also wants round-the-clock protection for her and her daughter Beatrice and clothing, entertainment and food allowances for the two of them in addition to an annual allowance for herself. Access to a private plane and helicopter, in addition to annual holidays, were also on the list.

Heather is also reportedly demanding a £50million “back payment”, claiming she was unable to get media work during her marriage to Paul.

A source told the newspaper Paul’s recently claim that he made a financial loss during their marriage spurred Heather into action: “Heather was reeling from Paul’s counter-claims. She’s drawn up a list of exactly what she will need to carry on in the lifestyle she’s used to.”

Celebrity Gossip: more snippets

  • Lily Allen has admitted she doesn’t like the way she constantly speaks publicly about others. She said recently: “I cannot stop myself from talking. I go into these things thinking, ‘OK, I mustn’t say anything bad about anyone,’ but it just comes out. It’s not something I like about myself. I just can’t stop it. I’m a bitch.”
  • A source close to Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman has denied reports that the couple are having marital difficulties after they were spotted partying without each other - and without their wedding rings - recently. A source told Life & Style Weekly: “They’re fine. They talk on the phone all the time. Jordan’s still devoted to Christina and to managing her career.”

Mike Tyson arrested for cocaine possession

Mike TysonMike Tyson has been charged with one count of narcotic drug possession after he was stopped in Arizona for a driving offence.

Mike was pulled over in the early hours of Friday morning after failing to pause at a stop sign and almost crashing into a sheriff’s vehicle on the way home from a nightclub.

Mike told the arresting officer that he is a cocaine addict and was carrying bags of cocaine at the time of his arrest. In his formal report, the officer noted: “I observed a white powder substance on the center console of the vehicle, Mike was wiping the dash off as I approached.”

“Mike admitted to possessing bags of cocaine and said he uses anytime he can get his hands on it.”

The officer found: “two bags of a white powder substance … in [Mike’s] back left pocket. In addition a bag was located on the driver seat in a Marlboro cigarettes pack.”

Subsequent tests revealed Mike was “under the influence of a depressant, stimulant and cannabis.”

Mike appeared in front of a judge later on Friday and while charged, was released without bail. As part of the terms of release, he will have to undergo frequent drugs and alcohol tests and must not leave Arizona until his trial.

Heather Mills blames Stella McCartney for art removal

Heather Mills is reportedly blaming Stella McCartney for the decision to remove art worth £10million from Heather’s lodge on Paul McCartney’s Peasmarsh estate.

A source close to Heather told the Sun: “Heather thinks it’s fairly obvious what’s happened. Paul’s spent Christmas with Stella, who is utterly worried about every penny her dad has.”

“She is constantly going on at him over money and valuables, and it seems she’s put him up to go back and take the paintings.”

But a source close to the McCartney family has explained it isn’t about the value of the art: “Money is not the issue here. Stella cannot bear the thought of Heather being anywhere near anything of value or just sentimental value to her late mother Linda.”

“Stella was so furious by the unfounded claims that her dad hit her mum, she is now hitting back.”
