Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split??

We’re not sure whether we should believe everything we read in US tabloids (or UK ones for that matter…) so you know, don’t hold us to this or anything but…

US magazine Life&Style Weekly is reporting that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have decided to split up - but are keeping it hush-hush until their baby is born later in the Spring.

The magazine is reporting that they’ll keep up appearances by staying at Tom’s Beverley Hills home - but sleeping separately - through the summer then Katie and the baby will move out to a house (which Tom will buy) nearby, so that Tom can been an involved parent.

They’re reporting a friend as saying “They’ll share custody … Tom will set up Katie and the baby [financially],” and the couple are apparently drawing up a legal document to make sure Mum and Baby are looked after for life.

We’re really torn about whether to believe this or not - we’ve not bought into their relationship from the beginning, and the suddenly-pregnant stuff suggests that it might have been the plan all along - so it makes it easier to believe this but still… It feels like they’ve gone this far, surely a fake marriage (conveniently timed near a movie release) and fake life together forever and ever isn’t that much further to go. It’s like sitting at home on Valentine’s evening, alone with your cat, having eaten two-thirds of a box of Thortons’ Continentals and drunk most of a bottle of Chiraz wondering whether to eat the icky lemon chocolates and drain the dregs of the wine, or whether to leave it at that and go to bed - you might as just finish what you’ve started. Ahem.
