Chantelle HoughtonChantelle Houghton’s father has spoken publicly for the first time about his daughter’s sudden fame.

Speaking to the Mirror, Alan Houghton revealed that he “always knew she would be famous”.

“She’s very single-minded and always wanted to do something special.”

Her sudden rise to stardom has meant the cab driver sees less of his little girl than he would like to:

“We [used to see] a lot of each other but since Celebrity Big Brother we’ve only managed to snatch a coffee and toast in the back of my cab. It’s very difficult now for her to go out but as soon as it’s quiet we’ll have a nice meal and some father-daughter time.”

The pair also managed a shopping trip to Knightsbridge but had to abandon it when Chantelle was besieged by fans: “people were hugging her and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up - fatherly pride.”

Alan even breaks with fatherly tradition and approves of Chantelle’s new boyfriend, Preston.

“Being a man, I could see from the body language he was attracted to her. They were the two sanest people there and they clicked.”

“Chantelle likes the way he dresses, he’s clean-cut and happy-go-lucky with a smile on his face. He’s a normal young fella and - in my eyes - a lucky one.”

“It must have been very difficult for him in the house, having feelings for Chantelle but knowing his girlfriend was watching. Preston could try to pretend it wasn’t happening but anyone could see it.”

“At times you can’t help who you fall in love with, it’s one of life’s wonders.”
