Scarlett Johansson’s new septum piercing

Scarlett Johansson has got a new body piercing - through her nasal septum.

Scarlett flaunted a tragus (that flap at the front of the ear) piercing late last year but has been showing off her septum piercing in New York this week.

It shouldn’t get in the way too much when she’s filming: with the jewellery she has in, she can either flip it up so it hides inside her nostrils or she can swap it for a concealing retainer.

We think it’s nice to see a celebrity doing something more creative with their septum rather than just rotting it with cocaine.

We just wonder what she’ll get pierced next…

I don’t understand how you can say something like that. Good for her more people should be able to get the piercings they want and not be judged by narrow minded people. She has not ruined anything, she has added to her looks.

I have my septum pierced as well, it’s awesome.
I think it looks really nice on her.
It’s good to see a celebrity getting something good done.

i have my septum pierced, it doesnt hurt but it makes your eyes water!
people judge piercings sooo bad
i think its really individual – and who says in this age that facial piercings cant be glamourous!!
i dont have any other piercings except for my ears and i think its a beautiful piercing. and i read about scarlett’s piercing aaaggeeesss ago in the times magazine, i think…so its not so new!

I totally respect scarlett more now as an individual..having a septum piercing myself (that’s stretched to 4mm), knowing that she has that guts to go through with the piercing and then to be proud of it is great considering so many of you other commenters want to wrap her up in barbie clothes and parade her around like a media icon.
Well guess what..she is..and she’s ALLOWED to be HER..not what you want. In fact, if y’all want her to look such and such a way..maybe it’s time you adressed your emotional body issues.

I have my septum pierced as well, and it is definatley my favorite.

Hers looks way to small of a gauge though.
That looks like either an 18g or 16g.
It looks cute, but should be bigger.

i think mandavangelist meant that she wants to get one, and that it’s not so shocking that ms. johansson got one, because it’s becoming more mainstream and socially acceptable than it would be, say, twenty years ago.

I have to say, this isn’t my favourite piercing, and admittedly, I was horrified when I saw the photo’s of Scarlet Johansson’s septum mutilation; however.. I think it’s good that Scarlet isn’t just conforming to the “red carpet glam”, and that she has her own sense of style. It sells a good image to teens growing up in a morally corrupt environment, where every teen has a dream of being size zero.
I support her in anything she does, as she is the sexiest woman in the world (besides Angelina Jolie), although, I wouldn’t get this myself.

If you were making a new piercing, and people don’t agree after, say that it doesn’t fit you, you wouldn’t care about them, right? You would have keep it. Just to note that those saying that septum piercings are painless etc.etc…It’s COMPLETELY dependant on what part of the nose is actually pierced (ie. The cartilage-which hurts more than a little…or the ‘sweet spot’ which is the area just behind).

And most people who are really ‘into’ modifications are unlikely to care for or want any numbing agents to be used as it is said to detract from the experience itself.

I wouldnt go about saying that piercings are Individual,By no means are they.haha.

But It’s nice seeing this,Body Mod needs to be accepted in the glamour world.It’s art,thousands and thousands of years ago kings would have piercings,the head of a tribe,That must mean something!

So it’s really fresh and great,maybe once hollywood takes into it a little more,The rest of the world will.

I have this piercing.
But i can still dress up and carry the look.
I think the piercing makes a glamourous ‘hollywood’ look even sexier because its so striking and unexpected- particularly on scarlett.

shows that she has a better pain threshold than your avergage waif actress- this piercing is no walk up the red carpet!!!

Scarlett is beautiful and only more beautiful because she doesn’t have to be like every other boring actress out there. I have a septum piercing myself that I have had for almost 4 years now and I love it. There is nothing wrong with an actress wanting to be different or wanting to add something to her beauty.

This is an absolutely amazing piercing and it’s great to see a celebrity sporting it out. I think that it’d look even better if it were slightly larger and if she went with a circular ring rather than the horseshoe ring—a circular ring would look better with her roundish features.

How can you say something like that? They should be able to get pierced if they want to. It’s better than her doing a massive amount of drugs. It is people like you that make other’s not want to express themselves through piercings and tattoos.
Get used to the fact that people have septum rings, it’s a style.
I’m sure you have your ears pierced, so what is very different about this? Just because it is through her nose?

Go shove it up your ass, and keep other’s feelings in perspective before saying something completely absurd.
