George Clooney’s home in the village of Laglio on Lake Como has long been suggested to be a potential location for the nuptials - Monica Mantero, the wife of the mayor of Laglio and a neighbour of Clooney, has told the Associated Press that there is “a lot of movement” around his villa at the moment and that there are “a lot of people there”.

Her husband has not yet been contacted to officiate in the proceedings but “even if they contacted him an hour before, he could still marry them.”

There is also no official indication of a ceremony at the town hall but local swish hotel Villa D’Este “could not rule out” a booking made under a false name.

Spokespeople for Angelina and Brad refused to comment and Clooney’s spokesperson Stan Rosenfield wouldn’t comment further than acknowledging that “there’s been wedding rumours for years” and they’re just rumours.
