Gary Glitter, aka Paul GaddGary Glitter will never freely return to Britain and he might avoid extradition because of differences in country law, according to his lawyer.

Le Than Kin has said about his client: “he told me he is devastated because he will probably never be able to go home. He thinks the police will hound him and try to arrest him if he sets foot on English soil.”

Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, had thousands of pornographic pictures of children stored on computer equipment in his home in Vietnam but under Vietnamese law, it’s only a crime to sell such images not just to possess them. He can only be extradited to the UK if he’s found to have profited from them.

“The police asked him about his financial situation. They wanted to know if he made any money from the pictures.”

“But he insisted that all his money was made legitimately from his music royalties.”

Gadd is appealing against the conviction he received last month but may be freed in November anyway for good behaviour. Le Than has admitted his client is finding prison difficult but he’s not suicidal.

“He was in a terrible state. There were rumours that he tried to smuggle in pills for a suicide but this is not true.”
