Kristin DavisKristin Davis has admitted the pressure she has been under to stay thin and how, conversely, that caused her to eat more.

Speaking to the Daily Record about an unnamed show early in her acting career, she said: “Everyone would talk about their diets and working out and what it made me do was go to craft services - where all the food for the cast and crew was - and I would eat.” But when a producer accused her of being too fat, she “decided that I was going to be very tough and run seven miles, three times a week. I was killing myself. My ankles hurt, my knees hurt and I was working 18-hour days.”

The pressure didn’t stop when she was offered her role in Sex and the City: a reporter cruelly asked who she played since she was “way too heavy” to play Carrie - based on journalist and author Candace Bushnell:

“I tried not to cry and said I had to leave. I immediately walked to the drug store and bought a bunch of cookies because that was my reaction… to rebel and say, ‘to hell with you, I’m going to eat what I want.’”
