Naomi CampbellNaomi Campbell entered a not guilty plea and suggested she is being “extorted” by the assistant who is claiming assault.

Naomi was arrested on Thursday morning after allegedly attacking her housekeeper with a mobile phone during an argument about missing clothing. The housekeeper required four stitches on the back of her head. Naomi claims the charges are revenge for her firing the plaintiff earlier in the day: “It won’t be the first time I have been extorted,” she remarked.

Naomi was released on bail and has been allowed to keep hold of her passport after her lawyer David Breitbart claimed she is not likely to flee the country to avoid the charge.

“My client is not a risk of flight,” he argued. “She is probably the most recognisable and most prominent model in the world. There are few places she could go where she would not be noticed.”

The case will be heard at Manhattan Criminal Court in June.
