Tom Cruise: Suri’s “gorgeous” and Katie Holmes “an absolute champ”

Tom Cruise has described himself as “jumping on couches”-level of excited about the birth of his daughter and described it as “the most beautiful moment of his life”.

He emailed TV presenter Diane Sawyer to gush: “It’s a girl! Her name is Suri she’s absolutely gorgeous. Kate was and is an absolute champ.”

Katie stayed silent during the birth as required by Scientology’s guidelines but she did have a painkilling epidural.

“Tom was determined to make Katie as comfortable as possible,” a source has revealed. “He was holding her hand and stroking her face to soothe her during the delivery.”

“Everybody in the room was told to stay silent and the nurses made hand signals. But Katie did indicate she wanted an epidural to help with the pain.”

Cruise’s spokesperson Paul Bloch is refusing to confirm the location of the birth but it is believed to have taken place at St John’s Health Center in Santa Monica after Katie insisted on a hospital birth.
