Dave Grohl and wife announce arrival of daughter, Violet

With Suri Cruise and Grier Henchy, it’s already been a busy week for celebrity babies but now Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl has announced that he’s joined the celebrity-dad club too.

His wife Jordyn Blum gave birth to Violet Maye last Saturday and the little girl, named after Grohl’s grandmother, weighed in at 6lbs 15oz.

Jordyn’s pregnancy was announced in a slip-up by Foo Fighters’ drummer, Taylor Hawkins. When asked about tour dates in an MTV interview earlier this year, Taylor commented: “We’re going to be touring Europe in January and February, but we’ve got to be home by March, because Dave and his wife are having a baby,” then added “but I probably wasn’t supposed to tell you that.”

Grohl later revealed that he played music to his unborn child and that she was quite the diserning listener: “Likes the Beatles. Doesn’t really get down to the Beach Boys. Digs Mozart,” he revealed.
