Hugh Grant and Jemima KhanHugh Grant has reportedly proposed to Jemima Khan at the end of last year but the couple have managed to keed the news a secret, just for close family and friends.

Hugh apparently proposed during a holiday in Barbados and a source has revealed: “It was romantic: he went down on one knee,” before presenting Jemima with a sapphire and diamond ring.

Close family and friends were told about it over the Christmas holiday but have respected the couple’s wishes to keep it under wraps. But the recent rumours that they are about to split because of Hugh’s inability to commit have forced a source to reveal all:

“They had their own reasons [for the secrecy] - partly Hugh’s filming commitments in America - but this latest speculation has gone too far.”

“Everyone was thrilled and we expected them to make an announcement in due course. Quite frankly, even they thought it would have got out by now. In fact, the secrecy added to the romance of it all.”

Jemima doesn’t wear the ring in public to avoid questions but the friend added: “I can assure you it’s real - I’ve seen it and I’ve seen her wearing it.”
