Paul McCartneyPaul McCartney has revealed that he calls estranged wife Heather Mills up to six times a day because he is worried how she is faring against public criticism about their split.

He’s apparently told friends: “It’s almost like a witchhunt. I’m really worried about her. She’s in pieces over this and I wish people could see she’s really different from the person she’s portrayed as.”

“Under the circumstances we’re fine. We’re talking, sorting stuff out and making the best of it. I can’t believe the cruelty towards her. Heather will continue to be an important part of my life.”

He’s also worried about the effect the split and the aftermath will have on their two year old daughter, Beatrice.

A friend of Heather’s has said: “Beatrice isn’t a baby any more. She can tell when Mummy’s upset and Paul’s naturally very concerned.”

But according to Paul’s business partner in the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts Mark Featherstone-Witty, Paul isn’t doing so well himself.

Featherstone-Witty revealed: “It is the lowest I have seen him since Linda died.”

“They are totally different circumstances, but [when I saw him] he looked extremely tired and worn out by the whole situation.”
