Cheryl Tweedy and Ashley Cole’s wedding guest list gets finalised

David and Victoria Beckham are shifting their schedules around so that they can attened Cheryl Tweedy and Ashley Cole’s July wedding.

A source has revealed: “David and Victoria are moving their schedules around so they can be there. David and Ashley are great mates and always have a laugh together.”

“Ash was a guest at their pre-World Cup bash but it’s not just about returning the favour for Becks. He really wants to be there. And Cheryl really looks up to Victoria. They get on well because of their girlband background and always sit together at matches. They talk gossip and fashion.”

“Sol Campbell and Jermaine Defoe will also be there so it should be a right kneesup.”

Racism is about feeling your own race is superior to someone else’s (or just feeling that you are better than someone else because of your race). So u can still be a Racist and have a boyfriend or indeed children that are a different race to you. My friend a (black girl) went out with a guy for a year and the had a huge arguement one and he said ‘You should be thankful that I went out with a ’N word!’ like you!!

Chez and Ash are the most gorgeous couple I have ever seen. They are so in love and I am so happy for them. Plenty of people in this world are racist but still “accept” mixed race people. That’s what happened for centuries in slavery! The mixed slaves were allowed to live in houses were as black slaves worked in the fields. Cheryl is a racist pure and simple. I live in newcastle and the city is a paradox in that racist language is still very acceptable and does not necessarily reflect racially hostile attitutes.This may sound strange but if a white person born and bred in London used such language they can rightly be presumed to hold corresponding attitudes.However,i have come across so many people in this city that given a few drinks may let slip.But by and large theyll never display negative racial attitudes.Cheryl was brought up in the predominantly white East End of Newcastle and accordinlgy she visits the ‘paki’ shop and goes for a ‘chinkies’…sad but true.

I certainly wouldn’t attribute that quote to me.I also wouldn’t suggest its ‘OK’ to display or even posess such attitudes.The point is i believe there is ignorance and there is hatred.They sometimes overlap but there is a clear distintion.I’ve worked in projects where youngsters attitudes are challenged, and to be honest when confronted with ceratin attitudes my first response is sympathy,because people are merely products of their environment and their experiences, so if these are limited then so will the mind be.I feel that similar attitudes are far less understandable in areas for example like London, which has an advantage of 2 or 3 generations of racial interacting over the North East.

I hear you Jac but My parents came from a country that was prodominantly Black to England they had no prior qualms about white people unfortunately the same attitude wasn’t expressed back to them. But still inspite of this their attitudes towards white people remained healthy even though where they were from they would have hardly ever have seen a white person before. England has an inherant superioriority complex due to its not too distant history which is not taught to English people and that they are not bothering to address. Hence the racist and bizarre attitudes to towards black people perpetuated still today (especially in an much more potent and open way in the North).

I agree with much of what you say and yes the history of this country and its colonial heritage and it’s impact is not appreciated by all, and in particular those that continue to perpetuate colonial beliefs i.e. ‘we are superior and therefore you must be inferior’. Some recent selected attitudes at the bi-centenary of the abolition act for slavery demonstrated this in that people felt perplexed that any apology or even recogition of what happened should be offered.This shows a lack of understanding of the comtemporary negative impact which remains today.However, I cannot fathom the ‘North’ comments. Surely you dont mean that racism suddenly stops at the Watford Gap? If there is more racism in one area of England than another then its primarily due to the nature of the ethnic population makeup of that place. As I said before, the capital for example has the advanatage of racial interacting since at least the 70’s. These are attitudes that stem from history, and this is the history of the WHOLE of the British Ises. There are certain areas in and around London, Dagenham being one that comes to mind which contain people with attitudes as unpleasant as in any other part of the country, and where parties like the BNP flourish.
