Tom CruiseTom Cruise, recently voted the most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine, has invited ex-wife Nicole Kidman to his wedding.

The star, set to marry fiancee Katie Holmes this summer, is being guided by a Scientology principle that followers “must seek closure” before they can enter new unions - and Tom believes having Nicole there will help him enter his new marriage with peace.

Nicole, however, doesn’t seem to be returning the gesture. Nicole’s marriage to Keith Urban - taking place later this month - marks her return to Catholicism, which she abandoned in favour of Scientology while married to Tom.

Father Paul Coleman, the priest at the church believed to be the setting for Nicole’s nuptials, has revealed: “it is important to her that the ceremony will be a full Catholic mass. Nicole had to get involved with Scientology when married to Tom, but her heart was never in it.”

The wedding plans are being kept secret but it’s rumoured that Tom, Katie and their baby Suri are not on the guest list. Nicole’s children with Tom, Isabella and Conor, will be in attendance though.
