Rod Stewart and Penny LancasterPenny Lancaster has revealed that fiance Rod Stewart’s divorce from ex-wife Rachel Hunter has now been finalised and the couple are planning their own wedding day.

Penny told the Daily Mirror: “The divorce has come through, it’s done and dusted, we’re in the midst of planning our very own big day.”

Rod proposed to Penny at the Eiffel Tower in March 2005, ahead of Penny giving birth to their son, Alastair, in November last year.

Penny explained: “We don’t want to dwell on the past, we’re looking to the future. The wedding plans are all very exciting and taking up a lot of time at the moment - as well as baby Alastair.”

“The big day will be next spring because having good weather is important. And it will be in the UK or Europe. We have a few venues in mind, but haven’t finally decided. It will be an intimate day with close friends and family - it won’t be a big showy affair.”

“We would love it if our son Alastair could be part of our wedding. It would be amazing to have him walk down the aisle holding hands with his cousin. She can be the flower girl and he can be the ring bearer.”

Alastair, meanwhile, has an important day coming up himself: “We’re getting him christened in Scotland on June 24. It’s special for us to have the ceremony up there because that’s where Alastair’s grandad was born and it’s important to keep in touch with your heritage.”

“It will be a lovely day surrounded by family and friends. My brother and his partner will be godparents.”

Penny also revealed Alastair’s arrival was “the happiest day of my life. We’re going to start trying for another baby in a year’s time.”

“In the last few weeks of pregnancy I worried whether I’d be a good mother, but then the natural instincts kicked in. I love being a mum now, I can’t imagine life without him.”
