Paul O'GradyTV chat show host Paul O’Grady was rushed to hospital on Friday morning after suffering a suspected heart attack.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital near his home in Ashford, Kent, and was taken into intensive care before being moved a cardiac unit in the hospital after an operation to clear a blocked artery.

A hospital spokesperson described his condition as “comfortable” and he is expected to be able to return home in a few days.

Paul had a previous heart attack - and similar operation - in 2002 and afterwards, adopted a healthier lifestyle including giving up smoking for two years.

A Channel 4 spokesperson added: “We are shocked and concerned by the news. Along with Paul’s many fans, we are wishing him all the very best.”
