Paul O’Grady is hospitalised after a suspected second heart attack
TV chat show host Paul O’Grady was rushed to hospital on Friday morning after suffering a suspected heart attack.
He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital near his home in Ashford, Kent, and was taken into intensive care before being moved a cardiac unit in the hospital after an operation to clear a blocked artery.
A hospital spokesperson described his condition as “comfortable” and he is expected to be able to return home in a few days.
Paul had a previous heart attack - and similar operation - in 2002 and afterwards, adopted a healthier lifestyle including giving up smoking for two years.
A Channel 4 spokesperson added: “We are shocked and concerned by the news. Along with Paul’s many fans, we are wishing him all the very best.”

Love and all best wishes to paul o’grady. I do hope you recover quickly. Slow down a bit too, no more chasing round the studio. We want you back on channel 4 in september. Miss you lots already. Take care.

Paul get well soon. I have had the same happen to me twice. 2004 at 40- 2006 at 42. I now have 5 stents in my coronary arteries. 2 years no smoking and I think thats killing me off quicker. I’m 43 now and all my tears and thoughts have been over my nearest and dearests. It really brings home a lot to us. I get real off days where I feel krap and its so hard to explain to people. My brother in law is 41 and he just had 1 stent fitted after having an attack. He ’s suffering real bad. So what can say, were in the lonely hearts or should I say broken hearts club. If ya fancy a chat some time dont hesitate as were all in the same boat. Keep ya chin up and hope to see ya soon on telly.
