Lindsay Lohan has dismissed tabloid rumours about a cocaine addiction by claiming she has never taken cocaine after seeing the problems it caused her father, Michael.

Lindsay LohanShe told the Mirror recently: “I’ve never tried cocaine. I’ve seen my father. I’ve seen how it messes with families and f***s your life up. If I hadn’t witnessed that, I may have gone a different route. I don’t know. But I’ve seen how it tore my parents apart.”

She has admitted to trying cannabis though but doesn’t see her experimentation or partying-past as anything out of the ordinary.

“When I turned 18, I really started to party. If I had gone to university, that would have seemed so normal. I like to party as much as anyone my age, and when you’re in this business there are obviously a lot of opportunities to go to events and parties.”

“But it’s nothing too decadent and probably not half as wild as what goes on at university fraternity parties!”

“I’ve worked very hard for a long time now and I’ve been very disciplined about my career. Going clubbing is my way of relaxing and releasing a lot of stress. I don’t feel that I should have to justify that part of my life.”

“[But] I want people to realise I’m serious about my career and my craft. I don’t want to be misunderstood. So I’m going to cut back on my nightlife - not because I feel I’ve done anything excessive, but because that stuff gets exaggerated, just like all those stories about me dancing on tables at bars where there aren’t any tables in the first place!”
