Nancy SorrellNancy Sorrell has revealed she was scared she had messed up her IVF treatment because she forgot to pack the necessary preparation drugs when the couple spent a night at a hotel. Nancy and husband Vic Reeves (real name Jim Moir) had been trying for a baby for two years before turning to IVF.

Nancy revealed recently: “We were staying at a hotel in London for the launch of Jim’s Big Night Out DVD. He was downstairs in the bar and I was up in the bedroom. I was about to inject myself with drugs to stimulate my ovaries when I realised I had left them at home.”

“I went absolutely spare. Everything had been going so well and now I thought I’d ruined it all. I’d been injecting myself for a couple of weeks and I thought I’d destroyed all that effort.”

“I was inconsolable, in tears and really panicking. It wasn’t until I phoned the doctor and she explained that it would be okay - missing one dose wouldn’t affect the procedure - that I calmed down.”

Nancy gave birth to twin girls Elizabeth and Nell in May after one cycle of IVF treatment - and realises they’re lucky that it didn’t take longer: “I consider myself very lucky. I know people who have spent fortunes having several cycles of IVF. They are still childless and now can’t afford to have any more. That must be devastating.”

“I never let myself consider the possibility that I may not have been able to have children. I just didn’t want to go there.”

But now she’s got her girls, she’s not planning on going through it again to expand their family further: “No way, that’s our lot. Jim already has Alice and Louis from his first marriage. So four is enough - a nice number.”
