Cheryl Tweedy and Ashley Cole wed on Friday; had reception on Saturday
Ashley Cole and Cheryl Tweedy’s wedding stretched into a two-day affair when they found out that they couldn’t marry at Wrotham Park, the Hertfordshire estate they had booked, because it doesn’t have a wedding licence.
Instead, the couple had to marry at Sopwell House Hotel near St Albans on Friday and hold the reception at Wrotham Park on Saturday.
A friend of the couple told the News of the World: “They were gutted they couldn’t do the wedding and reception on the same day, but it couldn’t happen legally.”
“They had no option but to have the wedding a day earlier. It was a lovely ceremony. Cheryl was in floods of tears. And there wasn’t a dry eye when Ashley kissed the bride.”
Cheryl’s Girls Aloud bandmates made up her orange-dressed bridal party and Ashley’s brother Matty was the best man.
The photos of the reception have been sold to OK! magazine.
