Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong on wedding dayAnt McPartlin married longterm girlfriend Lisa Armstrong at a church in Taplow, Buckinghamshire on Saturday in front of around 150 friends and family, with Dec Donnelly as his best man.

A guest told the Sun: “Lisa was very emotional. Tears started coming to her eyes as soon as she walked down the aisle and saw Ant.”

The party then went on to a reception, rumoured to be costing in excess of £100,000, at nearby Cliveden House including champagne, dinner and the speeches.

A reception guest revealed that Dec’s best man’s speech was very funny: “Ant’s speech was sweet and sentimental, as was Lisa’s father’s, so Dec’s really lightened things up.”

He opened with a mix of ego and self-deprecation: “As you know, I’m the best man . . . I’ve always known that, it’s just taken Ant a while to realise.”

“Traditionally, the best man offers words of advice on girls and marriage. I don’t know why they’ve asked me — I don’t have a girlfriend and I’m not married… But I’m sure there’s a girl for me just round the corner — unless the police have moved her on from there last night.”

The evening ended with fireworks and a disco before Ant whisked Lisa away to a secret - even to her - destination for the honeymoon.

Ant’s spokesperson commented: “It was a lovely day, everyone had an amazing time.”

“It wasn’t a showbiz do, just friends and family — and that’s exactly what Ant and Lisa wanted.”
