Paul O’Grady’s return to TV postponed until he’s recovered from heart attack

Paul O’Grady is not well enough to resume his chatshow next month as anticipated.

The new series of his Channel 4 show was set to start in a few weeks but after his heart attack last month, the producers have decided to delay its return until Paul is stronger.

A Channel 4 source said: “We want to make sure Paul’s 100 per cent ready to return and have been warned it’s likely to be later in September rather than at the start.”

“We wouldn’t want him to come back before he is ready because three months of fronting a daily show is pretty tough.”

But fellow chatshow hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan won’t be stepping into the breach: “Richard and Judy have made holiday plans and no one blames them for wanting to stick to them.”
