MadonnaMadonna complemented her husband Guy Ritchie in an improntu speech at her 48th birthday party on Wednesday night.

She paid out £60,000 for the double celebration - celebrating the end of the UK leg of her tour as well as her birthday - at the Loungelover bar in East London and invited celebrity friends such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Tracy Emin and Jamie and Jools Oliver.

Keen to show their marriage is back on track after troubles earlier this year, she told the assembled crowd: “I care for Guy deeply and he is the love of my life. He has changed my life for the better since I met him. I can only thank him for all his support.”

A guest at the party told the Mirror: “The last thing anyone expected was for Madonna to pay such a tribute to Guy. It was incredible to hear her open up and let people know such personal feelings. Guy was beaming and it’s clear they’re very much in love.”
