  • Ashlee Simpson has been offered the role of Roxie Hart in the stage version of Chicago from October - but hasn’t decided whether to join the cast of the show in London’s West End or on Broadway in New York. A source told Us Weekly that she was currently considering her options but “she will probably choose London”.
  • The rumours are hotting up that Eddie Murphy and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown are set to marry. A source revealed: “They are looking for the right ring [and] they are already living together at Eddie’s house.” The couple have been reportedly dating for just over two months.
  • Penélope Cruz has revealed she got into practise for singing in her new film Volver by having a karaoke machine at home - but when she has a big night of singing planned, she has to keep it a secret. She told GMTV: “I have karaoke at home. All my friends have to do it but I don’t tell them before otherwise they won’t come.”
