Maggie Gyllenhaal has compared her fiance Peter Sarsgaard to a bumbling Ben Stiller character during their first visit to their obstetrician when they found out Maggie was expecting their first child together.

Maggie revealed: “The very first time we went to meet our OB, [Peter] walked in on her examining someone else.”

“He kind of seemed like Ben Stiller in a Ben Stiller movie or something when he came back in. He went to put some quarters in our [parking] meter and he was just like this excited new dad.”

“He rushed into the room and saw some other woman’s feet in the stirrups.”

“He was like Ben Stiller or Hugh Grant - he had that kind of like romantic comedy quality. He’s gotten better though!”

The couple’s baby is due in the autumn.
