Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey finalise financial settlement

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have reportedly finalised the financial aspect of their split, nearly three months after their divorce was finalised.

Due to their appearance in MTV’s Newlyweds and related deals, the couple are estimated to have earned $36million during their three year marriage and even though Jessica earned the majority of the money, she didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement so under Californian law the money should be divided equally.

However, Jessica - and father Joe Simpson - were not happy with the legal deal and initially offered Nick just a $1.5million quick settlement - which Nick refused.

TMZ is reporting that Nick has now accepted a second offer, which is “significantly more than the $1.5million but considerably less than 50%”, to avoid a bitter court battle over the money.

Jessica is a star in every sense of the word. If it wasn’t for her, Nick wouldn’t even have a career right now. He only has a new album thanks to his broken heartedness.Jessica should not have to support him anymore now that they are divorced. For once in his life, he should stand on his own two feet and stop counting on the succesxs of other people to pay his bills. His band is no more, his vocals are only “ok” and his looks aren’t going to get him a modeling career in THIS lifetime. Nobody tuned into “Newlyweds” to see HIM - it was all about Jessica. Jessica is a STAR & Nick is her lapdog. WAS her lapdog. Now he’s just a dog… whining & begging & trying to find a new owner.

Haven’t women for decades been sitting around at home, getting their nails done, while the men are out working hard to pay for it all? Nice to see a reversal for once… I wish he had taken half.
