Zoe Ball has revealed that she and husband Norman Cook are considering IVF because they don’t want their son, Woody, to be an only child.

Zoe told the Mirror: “We’ve been trying for another baby, but it’s just not happening.”

“At the moment we’re playing the game of ‘let’s pretend we don’t want one’, in the hope we’ll suddenly surprise ourselves by getting pregnant. But we’ve just not been lucky yet - and it’s not through lack of trying.”

“It’s hard. Everywhere you go, people seem to be pregnant. We’d love a younger brother or sister for Woody, especially for later in life when I’m an old woman. That way he can ring them up and say: ‘You deal with mum, she’s being bonkers!’ Because I’m sure I’ll be a frightening old mother, telling Woody that no woman is good enough for him.”

They are also considering adopting a sibling for five year old Woody but realise the process won’t be as easy as it’s made out to be: “We’ve talked about it and I think adopting is a great thing, but we don’t know yet.”

“I have friends who have really struggled to adopt, so I know it will be tough. It’s frustrating to see Hollywood stars who seem to walk in and pick up a child, while other people are being told things like they’re too old to adopt.”

With or without another child, Zoe insists she’s now the happiest she’s ever been: “Woody has a lot to do with that. He’s such a happy, beautiful child. Mine and Norm’s philosophy has always been love. Lots of time and love. What the three of us have together is amazing.

“I love the weekends because it’s just the three of us, and we lie in bed all Saturday morning eating cereal, and then spend the afternoon going bike riding or something. It’s like: ‘Right, family time! Cuddles!’ I really enjoy that.”
