Anna Nicole Smith’s 20 year old son has died just days after Anna Nicole gave birth to her second child.

Daniel Smith flew into the Bahamas to see his mother and newborn sister at the weekend and was in Anna Nicole’s hospital room on Sunday morning when he suddenly collapsed.

According to the Nassau Guardian, Daniel had a “massive heart attack” and Anna Nicole tried to revive him before medical help arrived but due to the nature of the death, a full autopsy will have to be carried out to confirm the cause. Police have not yet ruled out foul play or any other potential causes, but Assistant Commissioner for the Royal Bahamas Police Force Reginald Ferguson QPM noted: “there were no signs of physical injury or violence” and there were “no reports of drugs, legal or illegal, on [Smith’s] person at this time.”

He added: “Nothing is ruled out. There are no signs of suicide, and police are waiting for pathology reports to make further determinations.”

A statement was posted on Anna Nicole’s website: “On September 7th, Anna Nicole gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.”

Anna Nicole’s attorney, Howard K Stern added: “Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being.”
