Third person present when Daniel Smith died, coroner revealed

Authorities in the Bahamas believe they know the cause of death of Daniel Smith and it was “definitely not a heart attack” as first thought.

Daniel died on Sunday while visiting his mother, Anna Nicole Smith, and newborn baby sister in a private hospital in Nassau.

Coroner Linda P Virgill has confirmed that the death is being treated as suspicious and “that there was definitely a third person in the room at the time of death and I do know who that person is. But I am unwilling to reveal that information at this time for various reasons.”

The coroners office is waiting for a toxicology report to be returned either today or Friday before confirming the specific cause of death but a public inquest has already been scheduled for next month. If the jurors at the inquest decide a crime has taken place then the case will be passed onto the Bahamian attorney general’s office.

As Daniel only flew into Nassau on Saturday, the police are expected to interview personnel from the plane as a part of their investigations.
