Anna Nicole Smith is staying with friends a secluded part of the Bahamas to try to come to terms with the sudden death of her son Daniel at the weekend.

Her US attorney Howard K Stern has revealed that Anna Nicole was “frantic” when she found her son was not breathing on Sunday morning and with Howard himself, she continued with resuscitation efforts after the medical staff at the private hospital had pronounced Daniel dead.

Stern also revealed that doctors had “to sedate her in order to check her out of the hospital” as she initially refused to leave Daniel’s side and that she suffered “memory loss of the event” which resulted in Stern having to tell her again that her son had died.

Her attorney in the Bahamas Michael Scott has added: “She’s overwhelmed. She’s trying to come to grips with the depth of her despair as you would expect (of) any parent who has sustained this kind of loss.”

Anna Nicole gave birth to her second child, a daughter, at the end of last week. The coroner’s verdict regarding the cause of Daniel’s death is expected today.
