Marianne Faithfull Marianne Faithfull has had to postpone her forthcoming world tour after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 59 year old singer revealed: “The disease has been quickly discovered by doctors in France. The prognosis for a return to full health is excellent.”

“I have absolute faith and confidence in my fantastic medical team and of course I will be well again, if not better than ever.”

Her spokesperson Rob Partridge added: “Obviously she was very upset, but now she’s in big fighting mood and determined to beat the cancer.”

A close friend told the Mirror: “She acted very quickly and doctors believe it hasn’t spread. She is in a fighting mood and will not let this beat her.”

Marianne has been recording music for four decades but is as widely known for her relationship with Mick Jagger as her pop, and later acting, career.
