Dita Von Teese: I don’t need children to feel fulfilled

Dita Von Teese is sick of being asked when she’ll have children with husband Marilyn Manson.

She said recently: “Neither of us is ready.”

And, ready or not, she added that they might never have children: “I don’t feel that we need to have children to validate our marriage and I don’t need children to claim I’m a fulfilled woman.”

I find it interesting how all these people who “don’t like being labelled” feel the need to pigeon-hole everyone else. Yes, we are all habing babies to feel fulfilled. None of us actually like babies.

Maybe she thinks making everyone else seem like robots makes her super-special. Too bad for her no one else thinks so, or her husband might still have a career. (I would comment on hers, but I’ve never heard of her before reading this article)

I think it’s great that someone who doesn’t want, or can’t have, children has spoken out about it. There must be millions of people for whom it isn’t a financial or emotional possibility, but you never hear anyone mentioning it. The common modern wisdom seems to be that if you don’t have as many children as physically possible, you’re missing out. Like Dita said, unfulfilled.

I’ve always liked Dita, and now I like her even more!

If I was married to Manson the first thing I would want to do is have a kid as soon as possible to ensure I’ve got an ever lasting link to that sexy love god.

I don’t see why anybody should be offended by what Dita says about having/not having kids. A lot of people have them just because ’that’s what you’re supposed to do’. There are a lot of unwanted and neglected kids in the western world and people should think about why they actually want kids before they have them.
And of course you don’t have to have children to be fulfilled; everybody has different priorities in their lives. Dita is completely right; if you are 100% happy in your relationship without kids, then don’t have them unless you REALLy want to and have thought it through first.

I respect Dita’s opinion and the fact that she chose to state it publically. As a woman who doesn’t want children, but has been raised to believe that it is a woman’s duty, I give this issue much thought in my own life.

It is hard to make a stand, but with most celebrities having babies and statistics showing us that children are being born to younger mothers in order to serve as a meal ticket, one really does wonder if the ‘blessing’ of having children has got lost along the way.

Wow there is a lot of psycho women on here who are desperate for Manson lovin. Just because Dita is a dancer doesn’t automatically mean she has to have kids! what the hell kind of comment is that?! hah I think that maybe she dances because she actually LIKES IT and its her PASSION…some people are really deranged. No-one has to have kids if they don’t want to, i think Dita will regret it in the end, but its her choice so deal with it.
