A death certificate has been issued for Daniel Smith, son of Anna Nicole Smith, after he died nearly a fortnight ago.

Although the cause of Daniel’s death on 10th September is still unknown, the certficate has been issued so that a funeral can take place.

Anna Nicole’s Bahamian lawyer Michael Scott confirmed the certificate had been issued and added: “It is not unusual in instances where the cause of death cannot be determined to issue a death certificate. This is not a matter of special treatment being given in this particular case.”

The coroners are still awaiting the results of certain toxicology and tissues sample tests with an inquest scheduled to take place in October.

Scott added that Anna Nicole is through the initial shock of Daniel’s death and has filed a birth certificate for her two week old daughter: “She’s much better. You never get over that, you get through it. Time is the catalyst for that.”

He also noted that Anna Nicole has been granted permanent residency in the Bahamas and intended to stay in the country for the time being.
