Anne Hathaway likes picking diverse acting roles as she believes it’ll help her grow as an actress - but that’s not to say she’s not scared by some of the challenges she sets herself.

Anne started acting in safe family films such as The Princess Diaries then went on to star in Brokeback Mountain, which included a nude scene for her, and more recently The Devil Wears Prada.

She said recently: “My acting philosophy is there has to be at least one element that scares the bejesus out of me! And I try to do the complete opposite of the last thing I did, just so I can grow as an actress.”

“I’m more proud of [Brokeback Mountain] than anything I’ve ever created I was ready to do something completely different.”

“I did Brokeback Mountain not to typecast myself; I got into it to be an actress, to get out of the comfort zone and scare the s**t out of myself.”
