Peaches Geldof was accused of shoplifting at Urban Outfitters in London’s Oxford Street on Tuesday after a security guard thought she was trying to steal a £285 coat. A security tag on the garment had triggered the shop’s alarms and the security guard led her away.

An onlooker told the Sun: “Peaches looked furious as she was escorted off by the guard. She was clearly upset and incredibly embarrassed. The whole store went quiet as she was taken upstairs.”

A friend of Peaches later told the newspaper: “This was all a huge misunderstanding. Peaches was simply shopping and had a coat under her arm.”

After being held by the store for “40 minutes to an hour”, Peaches reportedly left the shop in tears and shouted to onlookers: “All I did was go shopping!”

“There was no question of her not paying for it. She was simply looking at other clothes when approached by a member of staff. She was asked if she intended to pay. She said yes and paid for it later.”

In addition to studying for her A-levels, Peaches has a newspaper column and is part of the DJing duo, the Trash Pussies (when her dad lets her work, that is).
