Jolie-Pitt security guard threatens photographers in India
A unnamed security guard protecting Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has been accused of assaulting and threatening a photographer in Pune, India.
The couple are in the country while Angelina films scenes for her new movie A Mighty Heart and have attracted a large amount of attention from local and international photographers who have flocked to the city.
The photographer, Sam Relph, has claimed that he was grabbed by the throat by the security guard on Saturday evening as he tried to photograph the couple leaving their hotel.
Relph told the Hindustan Times: “He said if I took pictures he would kill me. I couldn’t breathe. He had his fingers on my windpipe and he knew what he was doing.”
Two Indian journalists have also complained about the treatment they have received from the same unnamed man.
Brad and Angelina arrived in the city by private jet on Thursday, bringing with them their three children, Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh.
The film follows the story of Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and murdered while researching a story in Pakistan. Angelina, who plays Pearl’s wife Mariane, has expressed disappointment that the shoot was relocated to India after security and safety fears of filming it in Pakistan itself.
She said in a statement: “I am disappointed that we could not shoot the film in Pakistan, a country that I love and have visited three times.”
A spokesperson, Trevor Nielson, for her added: “The [producers] talked with people from all levels of the Pakistan government and there’s certainly no hard feelings.”
“But it became clear that it was preferable to film in India.”
