Former Celebrity Big Brother star Preston has admitted that he is addicted to sleeping pills.

The Ordinary Boys’ singer trashed a hotel room last month while under the influence of the zolpidem tablets - which should only be used for short periods.

Now Preston, who has been taking the pills for three years, has told New magazine that they cause him problems: “I’m a terrible self-prescriber. My hands shake the whole time, I’m quite twitchy. I’d go to the doctor pleading for pills. And there are other ways of getting them.”

“I’m down to only taking one a day. I’d love to get to the stage where I don’t think about them.”

Preston married his Celebrity Big Brother housemate, Chantelle Houghton, in August.
