Warrant for Wesley Snipes arrest on tax fraud charges
A warrant has been released for the arrest of Wesley Snipes after allegations that he has failed to pay nearly $12million in taxes between 1996 and 2006.
Snipes and two other defendents, Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas Rosile, are accused of attempting “through deceit, craft, trickery, and dishonest means to make it appear as if Snipes had no liability for federal income taxes, when in fact defendant Snipes had such liability.” Snipes is accused of filing fraudulent claims for tax refunds in 1996 and 1997 then failed to file any tax returns between 1999 and 2006.
The men have been charged with eight separate indictments, with each count carrying up to a maximum of five years in prison. The charges claim Snipes used Kahn and Rosile to promote fraudulent tax schemes and prepare the false tax returns for him.
Officials are unsure about Wesley’s current location and Kahn is thought to have fled to Panama. Rosile has already turned himself in.
