Rupert Everett has revealed that he’s not cooked his own dinner for 25 years after a disastrous dinner party in 1981.

Rupert told the Cheltenham Literature Festival that the dinner party in a rented home in Hollywood went so wrong he couldn’t face the kitchen again: “A storm blew up and the terrace was blown in through the windows. Then there was a fire caused by candles. The place was full of smoke. It all went wrong.”

“I go out for dinner every night…and I love it. I love going to the same restaurant every day, having the same food every day.”
