New reports have revealed that Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement before their marriage in 1999.

The two were earning similar amounts when they married but after a number of hits and her Best Actress Oscar earlier this year, Reese can earn up to $20million a movie while Ryan earns around $2.5million. Under Californian law, earnings made during the marriage should be divided up equally.

Sources close to the couple have told TMZ that it’s unlikely that the pair will reconcile now that the separation as been made formal and that filing for a divorce is only a matter of time.

However, the source added that given Reese’s and Ryan’s conflicting-avoiding personalities and their concern for their two children, the divorce proceedings and financial settlement are likely to be amicable.
