Larry Birkhead will keep fighting for paternity tests

Larry Birkhead has vowed to keep fighting the paternity suit until he is officially named the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s new baby, Dannielynn.

In an open message to two month old Dannielynn posted on his website, Larry says: “I constantly wonder what kind of person would steal a child from another.”

“I thought at first maybe because your brother [Daniel Smith] was taken from your mom was the reason, but then I realized she started planning on keeping you from me all the way back in May.”

“I am ready to fight anyone and everyone that gets in my way. One day, you will thank me for fighting for you when others expected me to just walk away.”

Anna Nicole is still hospitalised in the Bahamas while she recovers from pneumonia and exhaustion. Her partner Howard Stern is named as the father on Dannielynn’s birth certificate.

I wonder what Larry Birkhead thinks he has to gain by chasing down a woman who has already been beaten and pummeling her some more? Is this any way to treat the mother of the child he says is his?

There is a paternity test at the heart of these questions, of course, the outcome of which threatens to break the hearts of Anna Nicole Smith and her fiance, Howard K. Stern. As if their hearts could be shattered any worse than they already have.

Mr. Birkhead has decried Mr. Stern’s contentions that he is Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern’s father. He has been vocal in his pursuit of personal justice. He has spoken of his great loss and the anguish of having a child stolen from him, as in, “What kind of person would steal another person’s baby?”

I am reasonably certain Anna Nicole Smith has those moments, too, when she wonders how it is that a child could be stolen from her, right before her eyes, as a matter of fact. I am sure she is thinking, in response to Larry’s poor pitiful pronouncements, “Tell me about it.”

Which is all the more reason for Mr. Birkhead to take a breath, move away from the camera for a few moments, and think about the big picture before he willingly parts with any more of his bodily fluids.

If the paternity test shows statistically that he is the father of Anna Nicole’s baby, has Mr. Birkhead, in his unbridled zeal to protect his rights, lost sight of his subject? A baby, of course, who has been tossed into the media’s scrutiny before she was a week old, and her mother, a woman who is still emotionally pulverized from the shock of losing her son.

The camera’s lens is pointed right at Mr. Birkhead now. And it is calling out his name. It is only a matter of time before his character is called into question, in much the same manner as he used to undermine Anna Nicole’s.
