Reese Witherspoon's petition of divorce from Ryan PhillippeReese Witherspoon has officially filed for divorce from husband Ryan Phillippe, just over a fortnight after they separated.

Reese, as the petitioner, is asking the court to grant the couple joint legal custody of their children, Ava and Deacon, with Reese requesting primary physical custody. Reese is also asking for “exclusive use of the family residence.”

Despite rumours of infidelity on Ryan’s part, the reason for a split has been given as “irreconcilable differences.”

Reese has stayed out of the public eye since the separation announcement but Ryan spoke about the split for the first time last week in an interview with People magazine, saying: “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.”

His spokesperson added that Ryan’s rumoured preference for partying wasn’t a cause for the split: “Look, he went out, she went out, it wasn’t a point of conflict.”
