Britney SpearsBritney Spears is reportedly selling the Malibu estate she lived in with now estranged husband Kevin Federline because it is too isolated and reminds her of their unhappy times there together.

Britney has been in New York since filing the papers to end her marriage to Kevin on Monday and a source close to Britney’s camp has told the Mirror she might move there permanently: “Everywhere Britney has been in New York, people have been really nice to her. It’s the kind of place she needs right now.”

“She wants to buy somewhere to raise her family, a place that’s kid-friendly.”

“She wants to meet a nice guy and she doesn’t want to be isolated in some mansion. She’s done that already and it’s not good for her.”

In related news, Kevin reportedly consulted his lawyer about divorcing Britneymore than a month before she filed the papers herself.

A source revealed yesterday that Kevin was talking to Mark Kaplan, wanting to know specifically how he could maximise the amount of money he could get out of the marriage because he didn’t think the amount he had agreed to in their prenuptial agreement was enough.

According to their agreement, Kevin is entitled to just a fraction of the value of their Malibu home and will receive spousal support for just one year. Britney will also stop paying child support for his two children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson and Kevin will have to return the expensives gifts - such as his Ferrari - that Britney has given him since their marriage two years ago.

A source close to Britney’s camp has revealed that she sees Kevin’s plan to fight for custody of their sons, Sean and Jayden, as nothing more than an attempt to receive more money: either that she will pay him off to avoid a fight or she will pay a significant amount in child support if he wins custody.
