Kylie Minogue on her Showgirl Homecoming tourKylie Minogue has resumed the Australian leg of her Showgirl tour after it was postponed 18 months ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She took to the stage in Sydney on Friday night, telling the audience: “Just to be here and have the opportunity to do it, I feel quite proud of that. I’m thrilled to be back. I’ve been looking forward to this for such a long time.”

Kylie’s dance routines have been toned down from the previous tour as she still is recovering her strength and stamina after her surgery and radiotherapy treatment. The seven costumes she wears during the show have also been redesigned so that the corsets are not as restrictive.

Ahead of Friday’s concert, she told reporters: “I’m as prepared as I can be but I’m not sure that I’ll be able to do everything that I did before. Not that I do an enormous amount of jumping all over the stage, but quick changes are really stressful.”

U2’s Bono joined her on stage on Saturday night for the ‘Kids’ duet that she originally performed with Robbie Williams. Kylie is expected to join Robbie for at least one show during his current Australian tour to perform the same song.
