Nick said recently: “She has that quality about her that people want to root for. If she puts together a great record, and I’m confident she will, I think she’ll be right back to where she was.   • Ashlee Simpson has a new way of dealing with unwanted paparazzi attention - when her car was surrounded by them when she left the Hyde nightclub in Hollywood over the weekend, she got her driver to nudge the photographers out of the way with her SUV, driving the car directly into a couple of them. Ashlee, who was looking a little worse for wear, refused to look up at the cameras during the incident.
  • Paris Hilton has shunned the hotel chain that made her family their fortune while she’s in London for the World Music Awards show on Wednesday. She was originally booked into a £1,000 a night luxury suite at the Park Lane Hilton but checked out after just one night in favour of the more celeb-friendly St Martin’s Lane Hotel. A spokesperson insists: “There was no falling out - she stays in different hotels when she is in London to get away from everyone and to relax elsewhere.”
