Tom Cruise has arrived in Rome ahead of his wedding to Katie Holmes later this week.

The star arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport by private jet from Los Angeles yesterday, accompanied by his mum and older children, Isabella and Connor. The group will stay at the Hassler hotel in the city before moving on to the wedding’s location on Wednesday.

Reports are still pointing to the Castello Odescalchi on Lake Bracciano as the location for the couple’s nuptials. Italian news service Ansa is reporting that Italian socialites are asking the castle’s owner for an invite: “Several of the aristocratic female friends of Princess Odescalchi, owner of the castle, apparently went to her and asked to work for free as hostesses at the wedding. The princess’ response to the response to the requests of her friends was: ‘No. thank you. I don’t even know if I’m going to be invited myself.’”

The mayor of the town of Bracciano Patrizia Riccioni has revealed that the local police authority received a request to clear the square in front of the castle over the weekend but refused to confirmed that it was specifically for the wedding.

Andrea Bocelli has also sparked rumours that he is set to sing at some point during the three-day event after confirming that he had been invited to attend.

The spokesperson for Tom and Katie refused to comment on any of the rumours surrounding the wedding plans.
