Katie visited La Bra Lingerie in West Hollywood at the weekend and spent $1,200 on bridal lingerie including a bra, thong, garter belt and silk stockings.

And for the night after the big day - and the honeymoor, she bought a silk nightgown and matching robe trimmed with ostrich feathers, a lace bra and thong set decorated with Swarovski crystals and for those chillier nights, two sets of silk pyjamas and matching robes.

A source from the store told MSNBC: “They weren’t all white - and they certainly weren’t virginal. But she’s a mother, so I guess that’s appropriate.”

Katie flew into Rome yesterday, arriving hours after her husband-to-be Tom Cruise arrived with his older children and mother.

A spokesperson for the couple, Arnold Robinson, confirmed that the wedding is still set for the weekend and despite previous rumours of legal snags, “all of the proper and necessary arrangements are being made” to allow the couple to officially marry.
