Desperate Housewives Jesse Metcalfe has split up from Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle after dating for six months because they’re both to busy with their respective careers to maintain a long distance relationship.

A source close to the pair told the Sun: “They had a tearful phone conversation at the start of the week and called it a day. They have both been flying to spend a few days with each other between work commitments. But it has not been easy.”

“Nadine is enjoying the best run of success that Girls Aloud have had. Their greatest hits album just went to No1. And they have signed up for a massive tour and new studio album next year. So her work diary is filled up to 2008 and Jesse’s film career has really taken off.”

“It wasn’t what either of them wanted - but they felt they had no other option.”

The source added that while the two still love each other: “work has had to come first“.

Nadine had previously commented that she’d “never felt this way about anyone before” and regarding the split, a friend of her’s told the Mirror: “Nadine really thought that Jesse was the one and has been crying endlessly since the split.”

“Both of them are sad that it’s come to an end, but it got too hard keeping a long-distance relationship going.”
