Naomi Campbell appeared in court in New York yesterday regarding her alleged assault a former housekeeper in March.

Naomi faced arrest if she didn’t show up for the court appearance yesterday but the hearing only lasted a short time because the district attorney’s office are still working out whether the case should proceed to court or not. If it does - and if Naomi is found guilty, she could face up to seven years in jail.

After the short hearing, her lawyer, David Breitbart, told reporters that they are considering a plea offer: “I’m not willing to have that kind of situation with regards to Naomi. If there’s something palatable, we’ll talk about it.”

“It wouldn’t surprise me if community service were part of that option.”

However, according to Breitbart, Naomi is unwilling to following in Boy George’s community service footsteps and sweep streets and would prefer something more appropriate such as charity fundraising.

If the plea offer is not accepted, the court will reconvene on 16th January next year to take the case forward.

Naomi was arrested on a second assault charge last month: this time for allegedly attacking her drugs counsellor.
