Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes with daughter SuriTom Cruise and Katie Holmes enjoyed a pre-wedding dinner with a number of their celebrity friends and family in Rome last night.

The couple are thought to be marrying in a small civil ceremony today with a large scale Scientology ceremony at Castello Odescalchi in Bracciano tomorrow.

Tom and Katie carried seven month old daughter Suri to the dinner at the Nino restaurant in the city centre, with friends such as Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey with girlfriend Jenny McCarthy. Katie’s Armani outfit coordinated with Suri’s clothes and Tom’s daughter Isabella’s dress while Tom himself wore a black Armani suit. Katie’s mum and dad, previously rumoured to be boycotting the wedding, were also in attendance.

A waiter at the restaurant revealed: “Tom and Katie went from table to table saying hello to everyone. They also took it in turns to hold baby Suri and there were three official photographers taking pictures.”

Many of Tom’s high-profile fellow Scientologists have been spotted arriving in Rome for the wedding including John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, and Jenna Elfman and Leah Remini. Other celebrities spotted arriving include Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields, and Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, while David and Victoria Beckham, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are expected to arrive today.

According to the Independent, all of the guests have signed a contract pledging that they pay a $1million penalty if they talk to the media about the wedding or release any photos they may take. However, the wedding will be documented: a spokesperson for Giorgi Armani has confirmed that they will have photographers at the wedding in addition to those hired by Tom and Katie’s team, and the television rights to the ceremony have reportedly been sold for Euro1.5million - the same about as the Odescalchi family have requested for the use of the castle.
